Plot and Story
Please be sure you have read volume one or you’re about to see some intense spoilers. Aria is now making full use of her hourglass in turning back time to benefit her. I thought that she would use it more often and I’m glad she doesn’t. Time travel can be tricky in certain stories because there are no consequences to actions, but this author balances it well.
Aria is great at manipulating those around her, but I’m not sure why she’s able to do so. Early in volume one she tells us that she didn’t pay attention to her lesson in royal etiquette and she had no interest in education and the people around her. Yet in volume two she’s able to master all those things.
I love the whole ‘mysterious character’ we have going on and trying to figure out who that person is. Wondering if this will be an enemy or a love interest sends you on a rollercoaster ride.
Finally, I’m starting to think their father is in on something. I can’t place my finger on it, but I don’t think he’s as innocent as they are making him out to be. Him lying about who gave him the business advise and making it seem like it was his biological daughter was underhanded. He’s up to something for sure.
Characters
The characters are developing nicely in this volume and I’m starting to have favourites. I do like Aria our main character and I like Isys as well. I’m not a fan of Mielle and oh my god, does Oscar annoy me.
I can’t stand weak main characters. When I say weak I don’t mean timid, shy or anything like that. I mean the way he can’t stand up to his sister and just allows her to control his life. I understand that he’s a younger character, but even so he doesn’t even finish his sentences around her.
He’s wishy-washy and it rubs me the wrong way. I don’t know if he’s putting on an act although if he is that would make for a great twist in power dynamics.
Overall Enjoyment
Overall volume two picked up the pacing on plot tenfold. I like how all the events and characters are intertwining and that is what makes this manhwa so interesting. The actions of the characters aren’t easily guessed and everyone has their own reasons for doing what they do.
I read this in one sitting and fantasized about ordering anther volume. I’m still progressing through my August reading goals so I don’t want to get too hooked a new series. I am planning to pick up volume 3-5 in September or October.
