If you did not read The Villainess Turns the Hourglass Volume 2 then this review will contain spoilers. If you did read volume two, please read that review first!
Plot and Story
This is the best volume in the series so far. When I started reading this series I thought there would be a heavy focus on the time travel aspect. This is far from the truth. The political aspect and strategies used in this volume is top-tier.
Although our main characters are young women and don’t contain any political power or influence of their own, they are able to influence the men in their lives that do hold that power. I’m loving every minute of watching them use the resources available to them to get ahead and achieve their goals.
Characters
We finally get some insight into the mysterious ‘Asher’ and Aria doesn’t have time to react before the end of the volume. If I had to wait for the next volume to be released, I would be upset. Lucky for me I joined the party late and have volume 4 sitting on my desk to be read.
Mielle isn’t really maturing or becoming more intelligent and I wonder if her character will develop at all. It would be great for Mielle to be an equal match for Aria, in both cunning and influence. Aria has a great advantage as she has already lived the life and travelled back. Because of this it doesn’t really feel like revenge, but more like Aria is just abusing everyone around her for no particular reason.
